Project Hockey

Policies for Real People

This page will not be just a bunch of legal jargon and boiler plate policies. Project Hockey is a small outfit developed in Grand Rapids, Michigan. No corporations, no shareholders, no overseas development. Our policies below try to reflect our commitment to simplicity and transparency.

Our First Policy is Kindness

Project Hockey is first and foremost a tool to be used by the hockey community and those who love the game. If you are not satisfied with our website for any reason, please reach out to us and we will do our best to resolve any issues you may have. You can have a conversation with a real human being by emailing support@project.hockey.

Payments

Payment Methods

Leagues are billed by the season. You can pay by credit or debit card, by ACH bank transfer, by Venmo, or by requesting an invoice. See our pricing page for current rates.

Card payments are processed immediately and your season credits are available right away. ACH bank transfers are made through the secure payment link on your invoice; they take a few business days to clear, and the invoice is marked paid automatically once they do. Venmo and invoice payments are settled by a person on our end rather than automatically, so your seasons are unlocked straight away and you have 30 days to complete the payment.

Season Credits

Paying for a season buys a credit, and a credit is what unlocks a season for scheduling. Every league's first season is free. Credits are held by the league that bought them and can be spent by that league or any league beneath it, so a rink can buy in bulk and cover its sub-leagues. A credit that has been applied to a season can be released back to the league as long as no games have been scheduled into that season yet.

Cards on File

Cards are saved to a league, not to a person. Anyone who administers that league can pay with a card saved on it, and leagues can also pay with a card saved on a league above them. You can remove a card from your league's billing page at any time.

Cards are never charged automatically. A league manager has to deliberately purchase credits every time. The one exception is a season that is delinquent on payment and at risk of being suspended — if a card is on file, we will attempt to charge it so that the season can stay open rather than have its games locked.

Card numbers are never sent to or stored on our servers. Card details are entered directly into a secure form hosted by Stripe, our payment processor, and we keep only a reference that lets us charge that card again with your permission.

Refunds

Refunds are available for any season within a 30 day window of payment. Please note that seasons with existing games in them cannot be refunded, since services have already been rendered. League admins must remove all games in a season in order to receive a refund.

Player Membership refunds are also available within 30 days of purchase. Refunding your membership will remove all benefits associated with that membership.

To request a refund, please email support@project.hockey with your league details and any other relevant information.

Data

What We Store

Project Hockey stores any information to properly run your leagues: accounts and the profile details you enter, the leagues, teams, players, schedules, and statistics your league creates, and a record of payments made. Passwords are stored only as a secure one-way hash — we cannot read them, and neither can anyone else who might get hold of the data.

What Is Public

Project Hockey is a public stats site. Standings, schedules, rosters, and player statistics for a league are visible for anyone to enjoy. Account details like email and birthdate are never shared publicly, but may be available to league admins to help manage their leagues — a birthdate is often the only thing that tells two players with the same name apart. Passwords are never shared with anyone.

What We Don't Do

All personal information provided to Project Hockey is never shared with anyone outside of the site, full stop. No tracking cookies, no advertisers, no marketing firms, nobody. We use a single cookie to keep you signed in, and that is the only one we set.

Removing Your Data

While we prefer all league history to be preserved on Project Hockey for all present and future players to enjoy, we will never hold your league hostage. If you'd like league information purged from Project Hockey, please contact us to arrange the details.

Thank you for being a part of the Project Hockey community!
